The HSE has recently released their statistics for 2007/2008.

During this period, 229 people died at work and there were 136,771 injuries reported under RIDDOR.

The HSE issued 7715 enforcement notices with Local Authorities issuing 6010.

The HSE prosecuted 1137 offences. 1028 of these were completed resulting in 839 convictions.

Local Authorities prosecuted 354 offences resulting in 334 convictions.

Average penalty per prosecution from the HSE was £12,896 whilst it was £7663 from Local Authority prosecutions.
