Industry News » Northampton Company Fined £150,000 Following Accident Involving a Fork Lift Truck

23-10-2007

A Northampton company has been hit with a £150,000 fine for an incident in which a visitor was injured by a fork lift truck. The visitor suffered a serious multiple fracture of his left leg when he was run over by a reversing fork lift truck.

Investigating HSE inspector David Welsh said: ”There was no separation of vehicles and pedestrians during the operation to move stillages. Pedestrians should have been excluded from the area by means of temporary bollards or fencing and warning signs but no attempt at segregation was made”.
